Returning to Japan from a middle school trip to Guam, Flight 223 encounters violent atmospheric turbulence and crashes into the ocean near an unmapped island. Akira Sengoku regains consciousness on a desolate beach, separated from his classmates and surrounding civilization. He quickly discovers that the island defies modern geography and biology, populated by lethal prehistoric megafauna, carnivorous terror birds like Diatryma, and predatory Cenozoic mammals that should have been extinct for millions of years.

Armed with raw determination and primitive survival weapons, Akira reunites with classmates including his childhood friend Rion Akagami and research prodigy Shirou Mariya. As the student body fractures under extreme psychological distress, hostile factions form around ruthless teachers and unstable classmates. Akira must forge alliances with formidable individuals like the pragmatic lone wolf Kouhei Yarai while unraveling why extinct organisms thrive on the landmass, what triggered the plane crash, and the dark truth behind the artificial island dubbed the Cage of Eden.

What to Expect

Cage of Eden emphasizes tactical problem-solving, anatomical animal weaknesses, and pragmatic wilderness strategy rather than supernatural combat. Survival sequences depend on Shirou Mariya's biological knowledge of extinct fauna, combined with Akira Sengoku's rapid improvisation under mortal danger. As the narrative progresses from initial crash site survival toward inland exploration, the threat escalates from predatory wildlife to treacherous human power struggles, lost technological facilities, and bio-engineered chimera organisms.

This completed series is ideal for readers who seek relentless survival drama, biological mysteries, and gritty crisis leadership similar to classic survival thrillers like Battle Royale and Suicide Island. Readers looking for tactical teamwork and exploration across uncharted hostile terrain will appreciate the extensive ecological and human conflicts presented across all 185 canon chapters.
